SCOTTY Fire Safety
Houses

The SCOTTY Fire Safety House is a fun, hands-on learning
tool to teach people of all ages what to do in the event of
a fire. Documentation (link to saves page) proves that
hundreds of lives have been saved because of the interactive
training provided by the SCOTTY Fire Safety House.
Combination
Sprinkler Demonstration/ Fire Safety Houses

Using our SCOTTY Sprinkler Demonstration trailers, you can
educate your community on the effectiveness of residential
and commercial sprinkler systems. Our dramatic "live-fire"
demonstration is an eye-opener, and the audience will see
how quickly a small fire can escalate into a full-scale
fire. The sprinkler system extinguishes the fire within
seconds.
PREP Houses (mobile
classroom)

Our mobile classrooms are built with portable technology
that brings life safety education and real-world training
situations directly to the public. We refer to it as a PREP
House, these trailers allow you to "Plan, Respond, Educate
and Prepare" for any number of situations. Because of its
mobility, the PREP House gives you an increased capability
to reach NFPA identified high-risk populations such as
senior citizens, children and the handicapped.
Arson Investigation
Trailers

The Arson Investigation Trailer allows fire investigators to
have the appropriate gear, work spaces and equipment for a
complete fire scene investigation in a self contained unit.
Advances in scientific technology have helped law
enforcement go high tech in solving fire-related crimes.

Grants
by Jerry Bryant of firerescue1.com
If you are contemplating an application to the 2009 Fire
Prevention and Safety Grants program (FP&S), you are about
to enter one of the most competitive applications processes
for this fiscal year. The FP&S program last year had more
2,600 applicants requesting $265 million in funding. For
2009, the FP&S program will award approximately $35 million
to successful applicants. If you've decided to
enter this field, then our objective is to help you become
more knowledgeable about the application process so that
your project can effectively compete with all of the others
that are filed. This article will deal with the
review and evaluation procedures used by the Department of
Homeland Security to determine how applications are ranked.
