Preparing for HAZMAT emergencies w/the VMAC’s DECON 24-3L

For this week’s unit spotlight, we’ll be showcasing the DECON 24-3L trailer made for the G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Much like last week’s unit spotlight, their trailer is divided into a maintenance room and two decontamination areas with a total of three lanes. Each lane is outfitted with insulated raptorhyde walls, sloped, Dri-Dek flooring, one shower head with a detachable hand-held sprayer, and yellow curtain partitioning, ensuring a sterile and contained decontamination process. As for the maintenance room, it contains the unit’s Onan LP 5500 generator, hot water heater, central plumbing, a 50-amp electric panel with surge protector, three gravity-fed soap dispensers, and one secured, 1,000 gallon waste bladder.
Other features include:
- Four entry/exit ramp doors with aluminum hand rails
- Four FRC surface-mount scene lights
- Six interior LED ceiling lights
- Three roof vents
- Two exterior GFI outlets
- 50-amp shoreline
- Two 40 lb. LP tanks with high capacity regulator
- Two sump pumps
- One 1 gallon compressor
- One roller system conveyor with stretchers
