Encouraging preparedness with DeKalb County Fire Rescue

In recognition of National Fire Prevention Month, the next two week’s unit spotlight posts will focus on our Fire Safety House models.
This week, we’re showcasing a SCOTTY Safety Theater 35-Bedroom that was built for the DeKalb County Fire Rescue in Tucker, GA. It will primarily be used by their Public Education Unit to provide free lessons and demonstrations regarding fire safety, fire prevention, and weather safety. To help create an engaging learning environment for the participants, their trailer features kitchen and bedroom stages equipped with one interior 55″ TV, an interactive stovetop and oven simulator with touchscreen controls, five surround sound speakers, dramatic smoke and LED lighting effects, one DVD player with a FEMA weather safety disc, an ADA-approved smoke detector, one Nighthawk CO detector, a pull station with a horn and strobe lights, one heated door module, and one burning trashcan module.

- Honda EU7000 generator
- A 50-amp shoreline
- One exterior 55″ touchscreen TV behind a 62×56″ roll-up door
- A control room with a control box and all-in-one computer, loudspeaker system with one wireless mic, two speakers, and an amp, a 22u equipment rack, and three haze machines
- Three cases of haze fluid and smoke fluid
- A Turning Point audience poller with ten student response clickers
- Carpeted bench seating
- Three roof vents
- Two low profile heat pumps with single zone thermostats
- Two electric ceiling heaters
- Custom full wrap graphics
