Brother’s Brother Foundation recently donated a fully customized hearing health van to the Eye & Ear Foundation for its work providing care in the community. The van will be used by UPMC audiologists and faculty at the University of Pittsburgh to provide free hearing care to underserved communities throughout the Pittsburgh region. Aside from hearing screenings and hearing aid care, clinicians will also use the van to address other health issues such as speech and swallowing. In addition to being able to provide on-site care, information gathered from these community missions will be used to better learn and understand how to address hearing loss, speech, and swallowing care in our communities.

To fulfill each of these purposes, we equipped their unit with a T-shaped work counter with two padded task chairs, one 6′ table, one folding patient chair, two folding jump seats, one Braun wheelchair lift, 24 D-rings with 12 assorted bungee cords, portable steps, and one Cradlepoint WiFi router and antenna.

Other features include:

  • One Fiamma 13′ awning
  • A MEPS 8k under the hood generator and a 600-amp Victron battery system with an auto start system
  • Four exterior perimeter scene lights
  • Pre-wiring for 110v duplex and CAT6 networking outlets
  • Two exterior GFI outlets
  • One 13,500 BTU Dometic FreshJet rooftop AC
  • One 1,000w wall heater
  • A side door assist handle
  • Custom graphics
